香港和聲慶祝成立銀禧，呈獻兩位美國作曲家的室內合唱瑰寶——柯普蘭（Aaron Copland）的《萬物初始》（In the Beginning）以及湯普森（Randall Thompson）的 《佛洛斯特之歌》(Frostiana)。

《萬物初始》由柯普蘭於1947年應哈佛大學之邀為其音樂評論研討會而作，並由羅伯·蕭（Robert Shaw）指揮的哈佛合唱團首演。柯普蘭的傑作《萬物初始》是一首女中音獨唱與無伴奏混聲合唱的作品，以戲劇性的手法呈現《創世記》中上帝創造天地的故事。《佛洛斯特之歌》（1959年）則是為紀念麻薩諸塞州阿默斯特鎮  (Amherst, Massachusetts)  建鎮200周年，由湯普森於1958年受委約創作。此作品為一個男聲合唱團和一個女聲合唱團創作，配以鋼琴伴奏。湯普森以深情的音樂詮釋羅伯特·弗羅斯特（Robert Frost）的詩作，每一頁都洋溢著對自然、人性與生命的讚美。

Hong Kong Voices celebrates her silver jubilee with chamber choral gems by two American composers – Aaron Copland’s In the Beginning and Randall Thompson’s Frostiana.

Scored for mezzo-soprano and a cappella mixed chorus, In the Beginning (1947) was commissioned by Harvard University for their Symposium on Music Criticism, and premiered by their Collegiate Chorale under the direction of Robert Shaw. Copland’s masterpiece is a dramatic representation of the story of creation as told in the Book of Genesis. In contrast, Frostiana (1959) was commissioned in 1958 for the 200th anniversary of the incorporation of the town of Amherst, Massachusetts. Penned for two separate female and male choruses with piano accompaniment, Thompson’s heartfelt reading of the poems by Robert Frost exudes on every page that speaks of nature, humanity and life.
