一七二三年，三十八歲的巴赫剛抵達萊比錫便隨即創作《聖約翰受難曲》，並於翌年耶穌受難日首演。劃時代的樂章震撼了萊比錫，普羅大眾無法完全接受，巴赫亦只好妥協作出修改。原版本於二十五年後才能重演，惟此時年邁的巴赫已近乎失明，不久便撒手塵寰。香港和聲聯同香港青唱及一眾新進的本地歌唱家，為觀眾重現這首驚世之作，只此一場，萬勿錯過。
In 1723, 38 year-old Bach arrived at Leipzig and assumed his duty as the Cantor of St. Thomas Church, a post he held until his death in 1750. He wrote the St. John Passion for his first Good Friday in Leipzig: an ambitious work which shocked the city so much that Bach had to revise it for later performances. Not until 25 years later could Bach resurrect the original score, by then he was already near-blind. Joined by budding local vocalists, Hong Kong Voices presents to you this groundbreaking Passion – a concert you would not want to miss.
